About the area and getting here


So, to matters closer to home , we are only 3 minutes drive from a riverside leisure park with a safe sandy beach with lots to keep the little ones happy-water slides into the lake, trampolines, mini golf, etc, even a restaurant and bar to keep the big kids happy!

As we are on the doorstep of the Dordogne this opens up the riches of the Perigord region-the foie gras, truffles and other gastronomic delights, not to mention the beautiful towns of Perigueux and  Brantome .
Within easy reach of the popular Friday morning market in Riberac.

About 40kms distant is St.Emilion, arguably one of the finest Saint Emilionwine producing areas in the World, a little further takes you into the Medoc area.

So, plenty to excite the palette of all you wine buffs!






About 20kms distant is Aubeterre sur Dronne, officially recognised for being one of the prettiest villages in France, Aubeterre sur DronneAubeterre sur Dronne offers narrow winding streets and ancient buildings to explore, several cafes and good restaurants.  Large car park next to the Information Bureau.
One of the most impressive sights in Aubeterre is the monolithic church of Saint Jean, which is situated underground of a cliff that hangs over the river Dronne.

An event not to be missed is the weekly Tuesday night market in July and August  at nearby Le Pizou.
This is often a big highlight of our clients holiday.
Local producers display their produce - wine, cheese, fruit, paella and a wide variety of cooked meals. There is also a pig roast.
You simply browse the stalls purchasing what you want [all freshly cooked on site] then take your place in the picturesque village square with hundreds of other people and enjoy the ambience.

Live music adds to the atmosphere and by the end of the evening be prepared to join in the fun.

Nearby Brosac lake offers  a safe sandy beach and a recently built club house and spa offering a host of activities including bar, restaurant, games room, squash court, sauna, jacuzzi, gym, beauty treatments, steam room and massage facilities.

Classic car owners are particularily welcom at La Sicaudrie. It  has been the venue of the Citroen Car Club [UK] DS Section annual French Technical Event held every September since 2005.

We are located at the southern end of the Charente [dept 16] (where its sunnier) right on the border with the Dordogne [dept 24] (1km) and only 2kms from the Charente Maritime [dept 17]. This means you can enjoy the very best that these three departments have to offer.

Only 6kms from the market town of Chalais with its lively and popular Monday morning market.
The town is dominated by the magnificent Chateau de Talleyrand with its Internationally renowned restaurant at prices that won’t break the bank.

Easy access to La Sicaudrie by road, rail or by air.

Only 35 minutes south of Angouleme where the TGV stops, so easy access from London or Ashford International Station.

 Just over an hours easy access to either Bergerac and Bordeaux airports. A little further from Poitiers and Limoges.

About 30kms from the N10 motorway exit at Barbezieux.

No need to circumnavigate Paris any more thanks to the A28 which comes down the west coast, with easy access from Dunkirk, Boulogne, Calais, Caen, Cherbourg and St.Malo.

From Calais for example this route reduces the travel time by about 2 hours from the ‘old’ route via Paris.
